Kissing on the first date

A Day In The Life | 0 comments

My wife, Regi(na), and I will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in 2025.

She is so awesome.

I mean, she’s put up with me for 30 years.

That’s most definitely medal-worthy.

I remember our first date.

We went to the house of some friends, who were an older married couple.

We spent the evening with them, making cookies and watching TV.

We had a great time.

But we were just getting to know each other.

Honestly, we had fun, but it was new and awkward.

Thankfully, it all worked out. 🙂

But, dating is hard.

I’m glad I had enough guts to ask Regi out.

There’s no way I was giving out a kiss on the first date.

That’s just weird.

It’s not expected.

It’s presumptuous.

And, in my mind, disrespectful.

If the relationship has merit, there will be opportunities for more intimate expressions in time.

In the meantime, dating is meant to help establish a connection.

Are there common interests?

Do you have compatible values?

Are you looking for similar outcomes in a relationship?

Dating is a process.

It’s kind of funny though, when some young business owners are bewildered when clients just don’t jump all-in on their main offer.

Without an real introduction.

Without any rapport.

They expect a kiss on the first date.

I had a new prospect in my office not long ago. (first date)

He knew very little about the services I could offer him.

I knew I was a good fit for his project, but he was new to his position and was very overwhelmed.

Early in our conversation, he asked me for a ballpark price estimate?

With the little bit I knew about the project, my estimate was a pretty wide range.

$18,000 – $28,000.

That’s a lot of money, right.

And a pretty wide range.

But, I had a plan…

You guessed it…

A second date.

Curious about how it went from there?
