My Four “I HAVE” Statements

A Day In The Life | 0 comments

Business ownership is part art and part science.

When I started freelancing full-time back in 2006, there was a new lesson to learn around every corner.

During my first 10 years of business ownership, I learned so many hard lessons

It seemed like every time I turned around, there was another one to learn.

Thankfully, as time went on, the hard lessons were less frequent.

As I started to crack the freelance design business code, I noticed that I was able to adapt and change with greater confidence.

Looking back, I can see there were four major areas of my business where I grew a ton.

Today, I’m confident in each of these areas.

Pricing… Sales… Management… Control.

I put these into four, I HAVE statements…

PRICING.

I HAVE confidence, emotionally and logically, that my price is worth it.

SALES.

I HAVE an authentic, simple yet highly effective marketing + sales process.

MANAGEMENT.

I HAVE an efficient, streamlined project management + development process.

CONTROL.

I HAVE confidence over how I manage my clients and my time; appropriately and in a way that honors both me and them (and keeps me in the driver’s seat).

Here’s the thing…

I didn’t start off confident in any of these areas?

Growth takes time.

Which of these four areas do you have the most confidence in?

Which is your weakest?

Growth can happen slowly, if we go it alone.

Or, growth can happen rapidly, if you have a guide to show you the way.

It’s up to you.

I’m here if you need me.

You’re growing… even if no one sees it yet.

Doors open when you do this one thing…

In 1990, I got my first paid freelance gig.I was still in high school when a friend referred me to someone looking for a simple pencil sketch of a dove.It wasn’t a huge project — just a small illustration for a publication — but to me, it felt like the biggest...
