Winning at the last second

A Day In The Life | 0 comments

I live near Kansas City.

Chances are good that you’ve heard of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

And, of course Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

They have helped make the Kansas City Chiefs a household name.

But, I bet you don’t recognize the name Leo Chenal.

Truthfully, until last Sunday, Leo didn’t make the news.

So, who is Leo?

Leo is a linebacker for the Chiefs.

But, he’s most notable for blocking a field goal last week in the Chief’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Going into last week’s game, the Chief’s record was 8-0.

And, last Sunday, the Broncos were trailing the Chiefs 14-16.

The Broncos had the ball and had carefully worked the clock to get the ball on the Chief’s 30 yard line with 1 second left in the game.

Patrick and Travis were on the sidelines, unable to help and waiting for the inevitable.

However, with only 1 second left, there were several Chief’s players that weren’t done fighting.

Leo Chenal was one of them.

As the Bronco’s snapped the ball, Leo and the Chief’s defensive line gave one last effort.

They pushed through the line, and Leo reached through and was able to block the kick with his right hand.

The field goal failed and the Chiefs walked off the field with a win.

They are now 9-0.

Most Chief’s fans (including myself) thought the game was lost.

Not Leo Chenal though.

He didn’t give up.

In my life and my business, there have been many times when I’ve felt like quitting.

Too much month at the end of the money.

Another bank late fee.

Juggling bills.

Spending the savings.

I’ve been there.

I’ve had to make some tough decisions over the past 18 years.

I made decisions that were best for me and my family.

But, going through a tough time isn’t a sign of failure… if…

If you’re willing to learn and adapt.

If you’re willing to do whatever it takes.

And, not give up.

Be like Leo Chenal, ready to give 100% at the last second.

Wins can happen in the last second of the game and life.
