My kids were the perfect age for the birth of the Pixar movie era in the late 90s. Our family devoured them all…
Toy Story…
A Bug’s Life…
Monster’s Inc…
Finding Nemo…
The Incredibles…
Cars…
and all of the sequels.
Pixar Studios didn’t just turn out beautiful, cutting edge 3D animation…
They were fantastic story tellers.
So many memorable characters and story lines.
As a father, Finding Nemo has a special place in my heart.
One of my favorite characters was Nemo’s best friend Dory.
Dory was plagued by a short memory, which got often got her into trouble.
But, it was Dory’s mantra I loved most.
“Just keep swimming.”
Dory seemed to move through the ocean aimlessly.
But, even if Dory didn’t know where she was, she could always remember to..
“Just keep swimming.”
Her instincts told her to keep moving forward.
Don’t we all need a little Dory in each of us as business owners.
There are so many things that keep us stuck.
Imposter syndrome…
Indecision…
Fear of failure…
Fear of success…
I was part of a great zoom call today in the Recurring Revenue School.
It was our first real group meeting of the new year.
And, there was a common feeling among many in the group.
Being together in the group provided some much needed encouragement and community.
There was some common appreciation for the group that was in the zoom room.
As freelance designers and soloprenuers, we’re isolated.
And we can easily succumb to the isolation.
Being in the group, we were reminded that we need to keep moving forward in our businesses.
Even if the steps are small.
We need to keep taking action.
Even if it’s messy.
We need to “Just Keep Swimming.”
It was refreshing to be in the zoom room today.
I don’t know if you are struggling with the realities of working alone.
But, if you’re looking for an encouraging group to swim with, we’ve got a place for you.
Jump into the Recurring Revenue School and find the community you might be looking for.
Until then…
“Just Keep Swimming.”
