Recently, my daughter, Hannah, called my wife.
She let her know that our son-in-law—we call him Q—was going to be out of town for a couple of days.
Hannah invited us to visit to spend some time with her and our 10-month-old granddaughter.
Duh… Of course we said yes.
We couldn’t pass up that opportunity.
We had a great time.
One of the highlights…
Our granddaughter had just started walking a week or so earlier.
So, we were so thrilled to be able to see her start to become more mobile.
Her steps are still a little wobbly, but we could tell she was happy that she was no longer crawling.
I am so proud of her.
Her world as she understands it is expanding.
Watching her take those wobbly steps made me grateful.
First, grateful that I have built a business that is flexible and allowed me to capitalize on an opportunity like this.
I never want to take that freedom for granted.
Second, I’m grateful for those wobbly steps I took as a young business owner in 2006.
Each step felt a little shaky.
A unique mixture of fear and excitement.
But, with each new step, I became stronger and more confident.
And, after a period of uncertainty and growth, my eyes were soon opened to new realities of what I could achieve in my business.
Each of us have to go through the “baby steps” phase in our business.
You can’t fast forward past it.
While this phase feels a little shaky, our persistence helps our business muscles to get stronger.
Honestly, it’s why I’m here writing this email now.
I see young design business owners in my Accelerator Plus membership who want to run in their businesses.
And, some are.
But, some are learning to walk first.
And, that’s okay.
I’m here to help them and guide them through the process.
Either way, I love being here to cheer them on.
You’ve got this,
