I’m back (and grateful) from an amazing Thanksgiving break

I took a few days off during the Thanksgiving holiday.

It was a perfectly-timed break.

I love the Thanksgiving holiday because the holiday directs us toward an attitude of gratitude.

And, I’m an extremely grateful guy.

The holiday break was filled with some precious memories.

To start, we were able to attend the one-year birthday of my dear granddaughter.

We celebrated with my daughter and her husband, along with great-grandparents and many family and friends.

Watching my oldest daughter, Hannah celebrate her little girl’s birthday was priceless.

It was like jumping in a time machine and seeing Hannah turn one back in 1999.

Then, our youngest daughters had asked us to make a roadtrip to see some family.

So, the day after my granddaughter’s birthday, we did.

A 2,600 mile roadtrip.

We were able to visit my wife’s parents in North Dakota.

My daughters were able to hear their grandparents tell stories about family and special locations in the area.

But, perhaps the zenith of the trip was stopping in to visit my wife’s grandmother, Marvel, in western Kansas.

Marvel turned 100 in January 2024 and due to distance/weather we were unable to celebrate with her on her birthday.

She was born in 1924, 100 years before my granddaughter.

And she still lives on her own in a tiny one-bedroom apartment.

For nearly an hour, me, my wife and my youngest daughters were able to visit with Grandma Marvel.

For the record, she is sharp as a tack and has a memory like Fort Knox.

She talked non-stop.

Our conversation with her was PRICELESS.

My daughters will never forget it.

The Thanksgiving holiday excursion left me with many experiences to unpack.

Perhaps I’ll dig into some in future emails.

But, in closing, I’m grateful.

I’m grateful for a business/career/job that allows me to take the time to experience these special moments with family.

I’m grateful for the hard choices my wife and I made nearly 20 years ago that have set us up for days like these.

I’m grateful for you and your heart to grow your business.

I’m grateful that I’m able to help other business owners like you be who they were created to be.

I’m cheering for you.

I’m here for you.
